Say Goodbye to Oily Skin

Say Goodbye to Oily Skin

Oily skin is a normal condition that many of us can experience.  Oily skin secretes excessive sebum oil. This excess could lead to clogging your skin with debris, pimples, dark spots, bumps and zits.

Sometimes oily skin needs additional products such as a moisturizer and a special soap that prevents oil production.

There are two kinds of oily skin

  • Normal oily skin: It’s when skin feels normal without moisturizer. This skin may have hydration issues. Do you feel your skin normal in summer but dry during the winter? This happens when you have normal oily skin. The problem occurs when you use different skin care products in every season. You may use the same product all the time, but during the winter you probably will need and additional moisturizer.
  • Very oily skin: It happens when your skin never gets dry. This type of skin almost always looks shiny. The pores are very large and visible. Sometimes your skin produces too much oil and it isn’t balanced, so you need the right products to help it achieve that.

If you have oily skin exfoliation should be your best friend. It’s very important to remove the dead cells and excessive oil from the skin to prevent their accumulation in the pores that lead to the development of pimples and associated problems.  If you don’t want to spend money in scrubs, don’t worry you can make your own at your place. Here are some recipes.

  • Oat scrub: Take oats and make them into a powder form. Mix them with a bit of water. Use it regularly.
  • Lemon scrub: Mix some lemon juice and salt. Use two times per week
  • Almonds and honey scrub: Powder the almonds and mix them with 2 tbsp of honey and store it. Use it regularly.

After every exfoliation, follow up with a homemade mask. It is better if it is a homemade mask, because sometimes normal masks have chemicals that are not good for your skin. These are some masks that work really good for oily skin as they gently absorb excess oil.

  • Apple homemade mask: Peel an apple and chop it into thin slices. Mix the apple with 2 tbsp of honey. Blend it until you make a smooth paste and apply it on your face. Remove after 15-20 minutes.
  • Papaya homemade mask: Mash the pulp of the papaya and add 2 tbsp of lemon juice. Blend everything properly and apply on your face. Remove after 15-20 minutes.
